Welcome and Course Introduction

Welcome to the National Adoption Competency Mental Health Training Initiative (NTI) training for Mental Health Professionals!!

NTI was designed to help you better understand and address the mental health needs of children, youth and their families moving toward or having achieved permanency through adoption or guardianship. It also seeks to improve collaboration between the child welfare and mental health service systems with shared language and aligned curricula. NTI aims to improve the outcomes by infusing enhanced permanency, adoption and mental health competency in the provision of casework and clinical practice

The following 10 modules focus on assessment, support and therapeutic interventions which promote permanency and improve well-being for children and youth and their foster, adoptive and guardianship families. NTI is also NASW-approved for continuing education credits.

Each module begins with a Pre-Test to measure your understanding of the topic prior to the training. The Post-Test will need to be passed with an 80% to move on to the next module. Pre- and Post-Test scores are sent annually to NTI by each state that hosts the training. All scores are anonymous.

CE Information: This training is already approved for 30 continuing education credits by NASW.
